Course Pre-requisites

HSC / Certificate II - Aeroskills Course

The Certificate II - Aeroskills can be commenced while undertaking Yr 11 and Yr 12 at High School. However non-school students may undertake the course as full fee paying students.

The applicant must hold a minimum year 10 school certificate (or eqivalent) with 50% passes in mathematics, science and english.

 

Certificate II & Certificate IV - Aeroskills (not completed in conjunction with the HSC or equivalent)

Certificate II - Aeroskills: This course can be commenced by any external students or students looking to commence an aviation apprenticeship, provided relevant workplacement or industry experience can be achieved. This is essential for the practical modules and hand skill developement

Certificate IV - Aeroskills: This course can be commenced only after the successful completion of Certificate II - Aeroskills or an equivalent level of industry experience has been achieved and confirmed through RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). Similar to the Certificate II - Aeroskills, this course requires the applicant to have access to relevant industry workplacement or experience in order to complete the practical and hand skills modules.

 

National Aerospace Curriculum

The applicant will hold a minimum year 10 school certificate (or eqivalent) with 50% passes in mathematics, science and english.

The applicant must also be physically capable of climbing an aircraft using specific steps, ladders or hand-holds; opening / closing spring-lock devices and using general hand and pwer tools safely.

 

Types Courses

 The applicant shall possess ONE of the following:

  • A formal AME trade qualification from a recognised training institution and relating to the type course stream in which they have applied. eg. an Avionics AME may not apply to do a Mechanical types course.
  • A LAME licence in the types course stream.
  • A LAME licence out of trade with the current cross trade Maintenance Authority.
  • An approval from CASA indicating that the holder has exemption, ie recognised overseas trade qualifications, to sit the course and be credited with the course code on successful course completion.
  • CASA Basic credits applicable to the types course systems.
